LA County DEO Announces Opening of New Job Center Providing No-Cost Career Services to the San Gabriel Valley
Monrovia becomes home to LA County’s newest America’s Job Center of California, offering no-cost employment, training, and business services for residents and employers

Los Angeles, CA –Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), in partnership with the Office of Supervisor Kathryn Barger, the City of Monrovia, Monrovia Unified School District (MUSD), and Managed Career Solutions (MCS), celebrated the grand opening of the Monrovia America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) affiliate location – expanding access to hiring and training services for workers and businesses across the San Gabriel Valley region.
Located at Monrovia Community Adult School (920 South Mountain Avenue), the new center location is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to visit. Both walk-in and pre-scheduled appointments are available.
The Monrovia AJCC Affiliate is one of 18 LA County-run and federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)-funded AJCC locations throughout the region. AJCCs connect jobseekers 14+ with career planning, job readiness preparation, job training and credentials, paid work experiences, and hiring employers, while supporting businesses in recruiting and growing a qualified labor force.
The Monrovia Community Adult School was selected as a key location for local worker and business support. Prior to its official designation, the Community Adult School saw nearly 400 students and community members enroll in and benefit from the AJCC system. The co-location will amplify these results with comprehensive education and workforce programming in one place.
“This new job center is an investment in the people and businesses of the San Gabriel Valley,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “By bringing no-cost career and business services directly into the community, we’re opening doors to opportunity and strengthening our local economy.”
“DEO is proud to be here today to welcome Monrovia into our network, and to ensure we are elevating good jobs and local talent in the San Gabriel Valley,” said Kelly LoBianco, Director of the LA County Department of Economic Opportunity.
“This has been a long time coming,” said Monrovia City Council Member Larry Spicer. “We’ve worked for years to bring a workforce center to Monrovia, and today it’s a reality. This center will make a difference for so many people, and I’m proud to have helped make it happen.”
Rob Hammond, President of the MUSD Board of Education said, “The location is no accident. We’re aligning education with economic mobility. Our students and residents now have direct access to career resources that can change their lives.”
Dr. Phillip Starr, President of Managed Career Solutions, added, “This isn’t just another office—it’s a place where people get real help. Monrovia is setting the standard for what’s possible when community institutions work together.”
Flint Fertig, Executive Director of MCAS, said, “We already support thousands of learners every year, and this new AJCC makes our school even more of a hub for opportunity. It’s going to enhance everything we do.”
Baldwin Hills Adult and Community Education will remain a key partner of the East San Gabriel Valley AJCC to ensure continued support for students in completing training and access employment opportunities.
