Let us help you turn your potential into a great career! DEO’s Youth@Work program provides LA County youth ages 14 to 24 with hands-on paid work experience, training opportunities, and career development support! Through our America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs), youth receive uniquely tailored services designed to meet their individual needs, including access to paid work experience within high-growth, in-demand industry sectors at public, non-profit, or private organizations, job readiness training, academic and career counseling, and advanced career services.

Here’s what we can do for you: 

  • Develop a tailored plan to map out your career path 
  • Provide hands-on training and real-world experience through internships and job placements 
  • Equip you with essential life skills, including financial literacy and job readiness 
  • Offer academic support and tutoring to help you excel 
  • Connect you with mentors and provide leadership opportunities to foster growth 

The program includes 20 hours of paid personal enrichment training, on topics including financial literacy, career exploration, work ethics, and goal setting, and 140 hours of paid work experience with high in demand employers and worksites.

Eligibility Requirements

LA County youth, ages 14-24, with the legal right to work, and face barriers to employment, are encouraged to apply including: 

  • LGBTQ youth 
  • Current or Former foster youth 
  • Youth from CalWORKs households 
  • Youth from low income households 
  • Pregnant/parenting youth 
  • Justice-impacted youth 
  • Youth experiencing homelessness
