DEO’s Youth@Work program provides LA County youth ages 14 to 24 with hands-on paid work experience, training opportunities, and career development support through our America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs).

Here’s what we can do for you:

  • Provide 160 hours of paid work experience and training through hundreds of employers 
  • Develop a tailored plan to map out your career path  
  • Equip you with essential life skills, including financial literacy and job readiness  
  • Offer academic support and tutoring to help you excel  
  • Connect you with mentors and provide leadership opportunities to foster growth

Eligibility Requirements

LA County youth, ages 14-24, with the legal right to work, and face barriers to employment, are encouraged to apply including: 

  • LGBTQ+ youth 
  • Current or former foster youth 
  • Youth from CalWORKs households 
  • Youth from low-income households 
  • Pregnant or parenting youth 
  • Justice-impacted youth 
  • Youth experiencing homelessness

Calling Employers! Host a Youth

Help shape our talent future! Become a youth worksite. As an employer, you have an opportunity to invest in your workforce while providing youth with invaluable work experience. By becoming a youth worksite, you will: 

  • Connect with a talent pipeline of work-ready youth 
  • Host a youth worker receiving subsidized wages for 120 hours 
  • Increase your workforce capacity and shape our future talent 

LA County is continuously seeking partnerships with interested businesses that are committed to investing in the community while helping to develop the next generation’s workforce within your industry. In particular, we are seeking employers from in-demand sectors such as Aerospace and Defense, Life Sciences, Construction and Infrastructure, Creative Sector, Early Care and Education, Healthcare, Hospitality and Tourism, Information Technology and Trade, Transportation and Logistics.
